Truck Accident on Capital Boulevard in Wake Forest NC Claims One-Life
A terrible wreck on Capital Boulevard (Route 1) in Wake Forest, North Carolina on Tuesday has claimed the life of Michelle Barlow of Wake Forest, North Carolina. The accident happened near the intersection with Burlington Mill Road when a dump truck pulling a trailer rear-ended the minivan driven by Ms. Barlow.
Ms. Barlow’s minivan was then pushed into the back of another truck and she was tragically pinned in between the two trucks and she did not survive. The driver of the second truck, Marvin Erb, was also injured and taken to Wakemed for treatment. Ms. Barlow was only 42 years old and was apparently a schoolteacher at Wake Forest High School.
Charges are pending against the driver of the dump truck. However, it is not clear why this driver did not reduce his speed to avoid his collision. Hopefully, police investigators will thoroughly investigate whether this driver was distracted by the use of any mobile device as the use of cell phones have dramatically increased the number of these types of accidents. Other possible issues involving this accident include the an analysis of the weight of the dump truck with the trailer attached and whether this weight exceeded the recommended weight for the truck braking system. If so, there may be additional liability for any party involved with loading the trailer.
