Troy NC Collision Results in Injuries to Donald Haywood
A very serious three vehicle accident in Troy, North Carolina on Friday has resulted in injuries to at least one person.
The accident happened on NC Highway 109. Apparently, a tractor trailer driver loss consciousness and crossed the center line of the NC 109 and side swiped a car driven by Mr. Donald Haywood. A third vehicle was forced off the road to avoid the collision. Mr. Haywood was taken to Montgomery Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was charged with driving left of center and careless and reckless driving. It is not clear what caused the driver to loose consciousness but this is certainly a very scary accident that could have ended much worse for everyone. Tractor-trailers are frequently loaded in excess of 50,000 pounds and when they strike a car the weight differential is significant. Fortunately, in this case, it appears everyone will survive.
