Gas Grill Explodes At Fayetteville, North Carolina Stadium Injuring Four
On Thursday morning at the J.P. Riddle Stadium in Fayetteville, a gas grill exploded causing serious injuries to four people.
The commercial sized grill apparently exploded when employees tried to light it around 9:50 a.m. According to reports, it is unclear what caused the grill to explode except that there appears to have been an accumulation of propane inside the stadium.
Several people were seriously burned including an intern named Jonathan Davidson. Three of the injured people including Mr. Davidson were taken to the Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill. The fourth victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital. The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the explosion along with local authorities.
This is a terribly unfortunate accident and hopefully investigators will sort out the cause of the explosion so that it does not happen again. The victims in this case may have very unique claims depending on their relationship with any party determined to be at fault. First, any injured employee is entitled to file a claim for workers compensation. In addition, if the at-fault party is determined to be someone other than the employer, the injured people may be able to pursue separate claims outside of workers compensation. Regardless, this is a very serious incident and the injured people would appear to be entitled to significant compensation for their injuries.
