Atlantic Beach, North Carolina Boat and Trailer Break Free Causing Serious Accident
A terrible accident on Monday in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina has resulted in serious injuries to a group vacationing in Atlantic Beach.
The accident apparently happened when a trailer with a boat broke free from the vehicle that was towing the trailer. The trailer then veered into the oncoming lane and hit a van carrying a group of spring breakers from Canton, North Carolina. At least one of the passengers in the van, a seven year old girl, was seriously injured.
This terrible wreck raises many questions about the person who was towing the boat. Who had the responsibility to properly secure the boat? Who checked the trailer hitch and were safety chains properly used? Was the driver towing the trailer experienced and trained regarding the proper manner to secure a trailer? Given the significant injuries in this case, it will also be important to sort out what insurance is available to cover the trailer and boat and the vehicle that was towing the trailer.
