This is obviously a terrible accident. Not surprisingly, the injuries to the victim are serious as they usually are in tractor-trailer cases. In many tractor-trailer cases, the reason for an accident can be more complicated that it may appear initially and there are many questions that must be asked and answered. For instance, how long had the driver been operating his tractor-trailer and was he driving beyond his hours of service limits. Was the tractor-trailer speeding? This answer can often be found by downloading information from the black box on the rig but this information must be accessed quickly or it may be lost. Was the tractor-trailer driver texting or using his cell phone in violation of federal regulations? The answers to these types of questions can be important in determining a fair recovery for someone injured in a tractor-trailer accident.
