Wilmington, North Carolina Motorcyclists Die in Wyoming Wreck
As reported, emergency Services responded to a vehicular accident that involved a van and a motorcycle on Wednesday, June 30 at approximately 1:49 p.m. The crash resulted in two fatalities and the temporally closing of north Highway 85 in Wyoming.
Thomas and Regina Church, of Wilmington, NC, were heading southbound on US Highway 85, riding double on their motorcycle. Ingeman and Cordelle Aasness of Hawthorne, Calif., were traveling northbound, and according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, for unknown reasons their vehicle had drifted across the center line going completely into the southbound lane of travel.
As Ingeman Aasness attempted to steer right to get back into his lane he and the Church’s collided head on into each other. Upon impact the Aasness’ van’s airbag’s deployed and both were wearing their seatbelts. The Church’s however were not wearing helmets at the time of the impact and both were declared dead at the scene. The crash resulted in the temporary closing of the highway.
Cordelle Aasness was taken by ambulance Niobrara Health and Life Center and then flown to by Wyoming Life Flight to the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo. Ingeman Aasness was treated for minor injuries then was given a ride by NHLC provider Dr. Roger Pafford to Casper to join his wife.
Members of the Wyoming Highway Patrol Crash Investigation Team were dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. Upon completion of the crash investigation all reports will be turned over to the Niobrara County Attorney’s Office. Upon their review of all the information they will make the final determination of the filing of any criminal charges.
