Stantonsburg NC Accident Results in Two Deaths and Multiple Injuries

A terrible accident on Tuesday afternoon near Stantonsburg, North Carolina has resulted in two deaths and injuries to several others. The accident happened around 2:00 pm on N.C. 58 when a Honda Odyssey minivan apparently crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck. There were four people in the pickup truck and two were killed – a mother and her 9 month old daughter.

The driver of the minivan as well as two others, including the driver of the pickup truck, were taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC with serious injuries.

Police apparently do not believe that alcohol or speed were factors in the crash. However, it is not clear why the driver of the Honda Odyssey crossed the center line and they are continuing the investigation.

I have personally driven on that stretch of Highway 58 many times and, given the speeds of the vehicles traveling in both directions, a collision where someone crosses the center-line is most-often going to result in serious injuries. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims.
