A tragic hit-and-run accident on Hillsborough Street has claimed one life and sent another person to the hospital.
The accident happened in the early morning hours near the intersection of Hillsborough Street and Dixie Trail. The accident apparently happened when two young women were attempting to cross the street and they were hit by a car driven by Adetoye Adekanmbi of Cary. The car driver fled the scene and abandoned his car but was later caught by police.

Hit-and-run accidents pose several questions particularly in cases such as this one. At 1:00 am on Hillsborough Street, it makes you wonder whether the driver of the car was intoxicated and that may have been the reason that he fled. Hopefully, police investigators will continue to investigate where the car driver was prior to the accident so that a complete picture can be developed on this terrible accident.
