Person Changing Flat Tire Killed by Drunk Driver in Rowan County NC Crash

A terrible accident happened on Saturday afternoon in Rowan County, North Carolina on Interstate 85 just north of Salisbury. The crash apparently involved a drunk driver driving a Jeep Cherokee that ran off the road to the right and crashed into a black Chevrolet Suburban which was then pushed into a gray Suburban.

According to available information, the Suburbans were on the side of the road in order to change a tire. The person changing the tire was killed in the crash. Several others were injured with a total of six people being transported to the hospital.

At this time there is no indication of the charges pending against the operator of the Jeep Cherokee but we would expect the driver would be charged with multiple crimes including driving while impaired and possibly felony death by motor vehicle.
