Harry Sugg of Pittsboro NC Killed By Tractor-Trailer

A gentleman named Harry Sugg was killed on Friday morning after the pickup truck he was driving was struck by a tractor-trailer.

The accident happened around 8:20 am on North Carolina Highway 751 near Pittsboro. According to reports, Mr. Sugg was traveling north on NC 751 when a tractor-trailer swerved into his lane and hit Mr. Sugg’s vehicle. The driver of the tractor-trailer has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving left of center.

Tractor-trailer accidents are typically among the most devastating on the roadways. A fully loaded tractor-trailer can weigh up to 80,000 pounds which is 40 tons. Compare that to a typical motor vehicle and it is like a 200 pound man sitting on a newborn child. In most tractor-trailer cases there will be at least $750,000 of liability insurance because that is the amount required under federal law. Hopefully, the family of Mr. Sugg will be treated fairly by the insurance company in this case.
