Greenville, NC Tractor-Trailer Accident Claims One Life

Greenville resident Sandra Woolard was killed on Thursday morning when her car was hit head-on by a tractor-trailer.

This terrible accident happened on Possum Track Road in Beaufort County just south of Chocowinity at around 6:15 am. According to news reports, the tractor-trailer crossed the center-line of Possum Track Road and struck Ms. Woolard’s car. The driver of the tractor-trailer has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

This serious tractor-trailer accident raises numerous questions about the conduct of the tractor-trailer driver. For instance, how long had the driver been on the road at the time of the accident which was 6:15 in the morning. Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations limit drivers to 14 consecutive hours of duty time without taking at least 10 hours of non-duty time.
