Chantel Warfield Killed in North Carolina Interstate 40 Crash
A young woman named Chantel Warfield was tragically killed on Thursday morning in a crash on Interstate 40 in Burke County, North Carolina.
The crash happened when a car lost control during apparent rainy conditions. A tractor-trailer following that car also lost control and hit a guardrail and bounced back into traffic. Ms. Warfield then went under the trailer portion of the tractor-trailer.
Ms. Warfield was 22 years old and a college counselor at Pender High School.
Charges are apparently pending against the driver of the first car. However, the fact that the tractor-trailer driver failed to maintain a proper lane control appears to be a potential additional cause of this wreck. In crashes such as this, the NC State Highway Patrol accident reconstruction team typically performs an accident reconstruction to determine all potential cause of the crash. However, if the accident reconstruction team is not performing an accident reconstruction, it would be important to send an accident reconstruction engineer to the scene to determine all factors that contributed to this terrible collision.
