Dust Explosion at Valley Proteins in Rose Hill, NC Injures Five Workers

ROSE HILL, NC (March 11, 2020) – A very serious explosion at a Valley Proteins feed plant near Rose Hill, North Carolina has resulted in injuries to at least five workers.  The workers were apparently doing welding work in a dusty area of the plant when the explosion occurred.

Four of the workers were transported to the UNC Burn Center in Chapel Hill for treatment.  The fifth worker was initially taken to a local hospital but later also transferred to the UNC Burn Center.

The North Carolina Department of Labor is investigating the incident and there are no reports available at this time.
