Thrana Frye Killed in Lincolnton NC Crash With Dump Truck

LINCOLNTON, NC (February 3, 2020) – A woman named Thrana Frye was tragically killed on Friday afternoon in a serious crash just north of Lincolnton, North Carolina.

The crash happened on Bethel Church Road at approximately 12:25 pm. According to available information, a dump truck pulling a trailer entered a sharp curve at which time the trailer crossed the center line and hit the vehicle driven by Ms. Frye.  Mr. Frye, who was 48 years old and from Iron Station, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Initial reports suggest that snowy conditions on the road may have contributed to the wreck.  However, any vehicle operated on the roadways of North Carolina must drive at a safe speed for the conditions then existing.  In this case, it is apparent that the truck that was towing the trailer was traveling too fast for the existing conditions.  In addition, anyone towing a trailer on North Carolina roadways must do so in a manner that ensures that the trailer travels in the same path of the towing vehicle.

This is obviously a tragic accident but one that appears to have been preventable had the person towing trailer driven in a manner required by North Carolina law.
