Lucas Wigfall Killed in Fayetteville NC Wreck With Tractor-Trailer

A young man named Lucas Wigfall was tragically killed on Tuesday morning in a Fayetteville, North Carolina collision involving a stopped tractor-trailer.

The wreck happened on Raeford Road near Pinewood Terrace.  A tractor-trailer apparently became stuck on the side of the road and left its trailer portion protruding into the roadway.  The driver of the tractor-trailer had apparently failed to place any type of warning markers around his truck as required by USDOT Regulations as adopted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Mr. Wigfall, who was 26 years old and from Fayetteville, was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle that struck the trailer.  The driver of the vehicle, Janet Jackson, and two additional passengers were injured in the crash and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The man operating the tractor-trailer was not in his vehicle when the wreck occurred.  He has been charged in the incident misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and a lane obstruction violation.
