Gastonia NC Tractor-Trailer Under-Ride Collision

A very serious collision in Gastonia, North Carolina involving a tractor-trailer has resulted in one death.  The wreck happened around 6:50 pm on East Ozark Avenue near Pear Street not far from the Interstate 85 on-ramp.

Apparently, the tractor-trailer was pulling out of a parking area when a man driving a 2010 Pontiac hatchback went under the trailer as the tractor-trailer entered the roadway. The man driving the Pontiac was pronounced dead at the scene.

Our firm has handled similar cases where our client was killed in what is commonly known as an under-ride collision.  In these cases, it is important to gather evidence at the scene including information as to whether the trailer was sufficiently conspicuous to the on-coming vehicle.  In addition, understanding site lines for the two vehicles is very critical to understanding the potential liability of the drivers.
