High Point NC Interstate 74 Collision Results in One Death

A very tragic accident on US Interstate 74 in High Point NC on Friday has resulted in one death.  The wreck happened around 2:20 pm just before the exit to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

According to available information, a man driving a Dodge Ram truck lost items off the back of his truck and stopped to retrieve the lost items.  Another vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu, stopped behind the Dodge Ram to help and put its flashers on.  A person driving a GM work van then crashed into the back of the Malibu which forced the Malibu into the Dodge Ram.  During the collisions, the driver of the Dodge Ram was struck.  This person was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital but did not survive.

There is some indication that distracted driving may be a contributing factor.

While there is no indication of any charges from this wreck, we would certainly expect the driver of the vehicle that collided with the Malibu to be charged with a failure to reduce speed.
