Jacksonville, North Carolina Man Arrested For Causing Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident

Police have now charged a Jacksonville man for the hit and run wreck that resulted in the death of Joseph Smith of Jacksonville.  The arrested man, Michael Appleton, also resides in Jacksonville.

The accident happened on Highway 17 near Thomson Drive and Cox Avenue on Wednesday night.  The crash remains under investigation and alcohol may be involved.
