A terrible car crash on the 4th of July near Bryson City has a young girl named Taylor Volpe from Pennsylvania still in the hospital with serious injuries.
The wreck apparently happened after the girl’s family had spent the day tubing in Bryson City and they were headed back to a family member’s house in Franklin, North Carolina. Apparently, the family member driving the car approached a four-way intersection but failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the path of another car. A potentially significant issue is that the stop sign is very difficult to see as you approach the intersection.
Hopefully, this young girl will recover from her injuries. If in fact the roadway was improperly designed or maintained and this was a cause of this wreck, this young girl may have a claim against the North Carolina Department of Transportation. To prevail on such a claim, it would be very important to gather evidence immediately about the road condition and the sight lines leading up to the intersection.
