Farmer Antioco “George” Yanez was killed on Thursday night at a farm in Surry County, North Carolina after a hay bale fell on top of him.
Reports indicate that Mr. Yanez was lifting the bale of hay with the forks of a tractor when the bale fell on him. Apparently, Mr. Yanez was a very experienced tractor operator but that the cause may have been faulty brakes on the tractor. If that is the case, then the family of Mr. Yanez should consider investigating how the tractor was maintained and whether this terrible accident could have been prevented if the brakes were properly maintained.
