Jacksonville, North Carolina Wreck Results in One Death

 Camp Johnson Marine is dead after a wreck on Western Boulevard, authorities said.

Chante Domenique Pleydle, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at Western Boulevard and Gum Branch Road late Friday night, according to a press release from the Jacksonville Police Department.

A 1999 Toyota Camry, operated by Tomas Mendoza Jr., 27, of Patriot Lane, was traveling on Western Boulevard Extension when it entered the intersection at Gum Branch Road in the center lane, according to JPD.

The Camry was struck by a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup, operated by Joshua Dale Harrison, 25, of 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Division aboard Camp Lejeune around 10:18 p.m., according to the release. The pickup truck was traveling in the direction of Henderson Drive in the outside travel lane.

Pleydle was a passenger in the Camry, authorities said.

Both drivers, as well as two passengers in the pickup truck, Roy Brandon Taylor, 24, and Tanapon Durongphant, 27, who are also with 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, were transported to Onslow Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released, according to JPD. 

The wreck remains under investigation.
