As reported by NBC17, police in Durham continue to investigate an accident that killed one person Tuesday morning.
According to investigators, the driver of a 1995 Chevrolet Corsica was travelling eastbound on Hillsborough Road around 1:44 a.m. when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 1999 Nissan Sentra.
The driver of the Corsica was trapped in his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family. The driver of the Sentra, 23-year-old Yonsy Balmore-Campos, was taken to Duke University Hospital with serious injuries.
Balmore-Campos has been charged with driving while impaired, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and driving without a license.
