EQ Class Action settlement gets preliminary approval

A federal judge on recently granted preliminary approval to a multimillion dollar settlement to compensate residents and business owners in Apex, North Carolina who evacuated as the result of a fire and explosion at a hazardous waste facility nearly three years ago.  The proposed settlement is for $7.85 million. It provides payments of up to $750 per household to residents who evacuated, to compensate for their expense and inconvenience, and provides for payments of up to $2,200 to the owners of businesses located within the evacuated areas.  Attorneys from Hendren & Malone, PLLC were active members of the court-appointed committee of attorneys representing the victims in this case.
